Augusto Matraga is a violent and aggressive farmer who, betrayed by his wife and cornered by several enemies, ends up beaten up and left for dead. He is rescued by a black couple and, during the recovery process, is forced to go through a long period of physical inactivity. Influenced by the couple who saved him, Augusto Matraga turns to religion, which he neglected for a long time, convinced that he is atoning for past sins.
