On a busy street of Paris, someone throws a crumpled piece of paper into the outstretched hand of a beggar. For a single instant, it becomes a link binding the trajectory of several characters: a young actress about to start her career, a war photographer who is rarely in France, a farmer without the slightest interest in taking over his father’s business, a music teacher in an institute for deaf-mute children and a Romanian woman who begs for money to send to her family. Their encounters are brief, but a code brings their different paths together.
