A day in Rodriguinho’s childhood inside a mansion in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro. He is the son of Conceição, grandson of matriarch Dona Mocinha and son of Henrique, the poor young man who entered the family. Orlando is the 40-year-old drunkard uncle, living on the expenses of his mother. On the same day that Rodrigo’s dog dies after eating the naphtalines that his grandmother put in the closets, the family discovers that Henrique, Mocinha’s solicitor, sold two plots of land owned by the harsh woman without permission. Everything happens while the country waits for Carlos Lacerda’s speech, amid the tensions preceding the fall of Brazilian president Getúlio Vargas.
