Beijing, 2012. San Bao attempts to kill himself twice, surviving both attempts. He ends up in a hospital where he shares a ward with a transvestite poet and dancer with an attraction for plastic surgery. Later when he is released, he finds solace and support in his group of friends: a hotel car attendant whose girlfriend has dumped him for a rich guy, a pub singer whose band has left her, and his transvestite pal. Each one struggles with their own life predicaments in the glamorous, prosperous, and modern metropolis called Beijing.
