A rock opera that had theatrical versions in various countries and became an emblem for world peace. Claude, a peaceable young man from inland United States, goes to New York when he is drafted to fight in Vietnam. Before reporting for duty, however, he goes through Central Park, where he meets a group of hippies, led by the rebellious Berger. They become friends, and Claude goes with them to a party at the home of Sheila, a rich and very beautiful girl. Later, when Claude goes for training in Nevada, Berger manages to infiltrate the barracks so the young man can leave and meet with Sheila. In a tragic coincidence, Berger ends up being sent to war in his place.
