Zatoichi is a blind 19th century nomad, who earns his living as a gambler and masseur. Behind this apparently humble and harmless façade, hides a warrior’s spirit with a flawless deftness and precision at handling the sword. On one of his walkabouts, Zatoichi comes across a mountainside village. The local population finds itself at the mercy of Ginzo, a cruel and ruthless gangster who’s always accompanied by his body guard, Hattori. After a night of gambling in town, the samurai stumbles into a couple of geishas, both beautiful and dangerous, who seek revenge on their parents’ murder. The characters’ path cross throughout the story, and soon Zatoichi becomes a potential target for Ginzo, who has not intentions of letting him escape alive.
