Winner of the Grand Prize at Locarno and Toulon, in 1976, the film shows the love between a political militant and a disillusioned young man and the rebirth of hopes and illusions provoked by the romance. "The Great Night" was an expression known during the days of the Paris Commune and referred to the celebration after the popular victory. The action takes place in Lausanne, where Lea and Leon meet.
