Sarolta Galambos, a young man involved in the struggle of the Hungarian Republic of Councils, is persecuted by the relentless "white terror", instigated by the monarchists between the winter of 1919 and the spring of 1929. To escape his persecutors, he takes refuge in a sanatorium reserved only for women, being forced to wear women`s clothing while awaiting another political exile to flee the country.
