Bree, whose first name is Christian, is a transsexual in Los Angeles. She saves up every cent to have the last operation that will, once and for all, make her a woman. One day, she has a telephone call from Toby, a boy in prison in New York, on the look-out for his father. Bree thinks that he may be the result of intercourse she may have had when she was still a man and travels to New York to release the boy from prison. Toby believes she is a Christian missionary interested in converting him. Bree does nothing to clear up the misunderstanding and convinces him to go with her to Los Angeles.
