Twenty years after the tragedy that brought ruin to the Candóia family, it is up to the only daughter, Cícera, to look after her sick mother. In the arid village of Parambu, Cícera lives out a conflict between caring for a handful of emaciated goats and looking after her mother, or running away with her boyfriend Quinzinho.
