A free adaptation of the Sophocles classic tragedy “Oedipus Rex” crossed with a classic by Jack Kerouac “On the Road”. The film focuses on the loss of identity of a generation of Portuguese immigrants. Thebes tells the story of a young man in search of his origins who sets off from Paris to Portugal with a beatnik truck driver. The film is a journey to the depths of Portugal in the form of a surreal road-movie.
