Eleven-year-old Violette finds her own identity through the utopian vision of the letters which Rosa Luxembourg (1871-1919) wrote from her prison cells in 1917. She put into action her patient plans to run away, to go East, and follow the traces of her heroin’s fatal odyssey until she finds the old stone bridge over the Landswehr Kanal in Berlin where Rosa was thrown, and determined to take up where Rosa left off.
