Ray Eddy’s husband has bet away the family savings and left her. Her salary is not enough to support her two children; they barely have enough to eat. In a desperate search for her husband, Ray meets Mohawk descendent Lila Littlewolf, who is also struggling to survive. Suspicious of each other, the two women nevertheless join forces in a dangerous undertaking: helping illegal immigrants get from Canada to the U.S. by crossing the frozen St. Lawrence River. Awarded Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival 2008.
