They have escaped from certain death through persecution by the military. They are survivors of the violence that Guatemala has experienced. Over one million peasants and Indians sought refuge in neighboring territory. But twenty families have met with a fate more violent. These families taken to Bolivia in the eighties are, in 2006, around fourty. Many of these yearn to return to their country to be in touch with family members who survived.
