A comedy and the first film made in collaboration between Sjöström and a Swedish writer, his contemporary, Hjalmar Bergman, in an adaptation of a narrative by Bergman, from 1910. The story follows along with the adventures of a stout, aged count, his beautiful niece, and a complicated plot involving a will. The film is outstanding for a satyrical tone, for biting criticism of the dominant social classes, and for a careful reconstruction of the period.
