Three monks from different generations live in a silent ancient monastery in the mountains. The youngest, a monk nine years of age, still cries at the absence of his mother. The monk who is age twenty is being pursued by a beautiful girl. The Master of the temple is advanced in years. He is now enlightened and intends to remain indifferent to the disquiet prevailing among his disciples. Director Joo Kyung-Jung researched over one hundred different monasteries for five years before deciding on two of the most impressive in the mountains of Korea: Bongjeongsa and Sunamsa.
