The Children of the Marshland (1999)
Sobre o filme
Garris and Riton live in a swampy region up-country in France. Riton is father to three excitable children from his second marriage. He, at times, attempts to put up a resistance to routine and boredom with a glass or two of red wine, all of which also helps him to forget the love of his life, Pamela, his first wife. Garris is a bachelor by conviction, a simple and generous man, wayward in spirit. If he stays on in the swamplands, it is to help Riton and his family who eke out a living gathering snails and from other small jobs linked to fishing. They have a few friends: Amédée, a dreamer passionately fond of literature; Tane, the driver of the small local train; and Pépé, a former inhabitant of the swamplands who, even though he has become a wealthy manufacturer, has never forsaken his origins and his friendship with Garris and Riton. One day, unable to resist the call of the world, Garris decides to leave.
