Japanese director Nagisa Oshima presents in this controversial film of his an erotic ritual based on the obsessive relationship between a man and a woman. He is sexually linked to the woman he loves in such a way that he could even die for her. Through this maddened relationship, Oshima seeks to demolish the prejudices brought by the pornography industry. His eroticism has no visual limits, but it is not merely pornograpic exploitation.
