With only the name of the city where he lives, Felicia (Elaine Cassidy) crosses the sea to Ireland to meet her boyfriend Johnny (Peter McDonald) once more. He has moved to England to work in a factory manufacturing grass cutters. Felicia must find him to inform him that she is expecting a child from him. However, before she finds her boyfriend, she meets Hilditch (Bob Hoskins), a lonely bachelor who rents out rooms to girls in distress to then make friends with them, but with a sordid objective in mind: to use them sexually. The film competed at the Cannes Festival in 1999 and is based on a novel by William Trevor.
