Thought to be lost for a long time, the film was restored by the Swedish Film Institute as from German copies and a script in English, found in England. This is Stiller?s twelfth film, with Victor Sjöström as actor. The film tells the story of a young student, Georg Vide, and his relationship to a girl, Ester. When she gets pregnant, he denounces her to his congregation, saying that a Christian may not marry a girl of Jewish origin.
