A biography on film of Italian industrialist Enrico Mattei. The owner of an empire in the energy sector, the entrepreneur died in mysterious circumstances, in a plane accident, in 1962. To guard against government interference, Mattei was given to spending vast sums of money bribing top authorities. When he attempted to make Italy a world oil power, he ran into difficulties.
