Beirut, 1983. Lina is a girl age 12 who, although in the midst of a civil war, builds a world of her own around Siham, an 18-year- old servant who works for her aunt. In monitoring Siham?s life, she becomes absorbed in relation to the war and becomes invisible within the family, even to Siham herself. In a precarious existence marked by passion and frustration, Lina reaches adulthood without really being able to discern good from evil. Although at no time is the war physically present in this film, it can be felt by the pressure it exerts on the characters.
