Narrated by Maria Bethânia herself, the film shows not only the creative process for the singer, but also the history of music in Brazil. She was first a muse for the counterculture and, later, queen of romantic ballads: Bethânia?s career relates to the social development in Brazil. To outline this trajectory, the director included other performers such as Gilberto Gil, Nana Caymmi, Miúcha, Chico Buarque de Holanda, and Caetano Veloso.
