Master criminal Johnny Clay plans one last heist before retiring with his girlfriend, Fay. He assembles a team of crooks and plans a complex two million dollar caper, taking place during a horserace. It seems like the perfect plan but things don’t go exactly like Johnny expects them to. Based on the novel Clean Break by Lionel White. An early sign of a life-long interest: human folly and greed – here with an ending that reminds us of the American writer O.Henry (1862-1910).
