In 1965, a Volkswagen Beetle was sold to a young Sao Paulo civil engineer. Forty years elapsed, and the car wound up with a scrap dealer in Recife with a KFZ-1348 number plate. In this trajectory of four decades, the car passed through the hands of seven other owners ranging from a Sao Paulo entrepreneur to a hairdresser in up-country Pernambuco state. For each, the Beetle was of value and importance at different stages of the history of Brazil. The Beetle KFZ-1348 documentary delves into these stories, with the car for a guiding line and the life of its owners as a privileged window to observe Brazilian society.
