Laura is a hairdresser around her fifties. Since she widows, she lives an empty life in a suburban near the seaside. Her grown up children are becoming more and more absent. In her loneliness, Laura dedicates herself to abandoned animals. Her life is challenged When she brings home Carmo, a homeless rebellious HIV-positive young woman. Together, they fight against discrimination in the small neighborhood. Meanwhile, Laura meets Rui, a much younger fisherman, and they fall in love. Carmo becomes a setback for their happiness and, feeling her place threatened, she turns against Laura. Laura must choose. Will she have courage enough to be happy?
