A filmmaker embarks on a search for his real family name; the name his family has been passing on from father to son is not the right one. Somewhere along his family history a father has given his name to a child that wasn`t his. The younger generation doesn’t know all the details and the elders keep their mouths shut. The first person he wants to talk to is his own father, with whom he`s always had difficulties communicating. The somewhat stubborn pater familias isn`t too pleased with his son`s endeavor, but in front of the camera they talk more than ever. Meanwhile, Poissonnier discovers many family secrets and feuds.
