In 1963, Pasolini travelled throughout Italy and made a film study on sexuality. He travelled the rural areas and big cities asking passers-by, peasants, factory workers, football players, students, tradesmen, and people of every walk of life what they thought about eroticism and love. According to Pasolini, the result is a portrait of Italian hipocrisy, full of adages and clichés, a social characteristic the film maker invariably strived against.
