Candy is a talented young painter and Dan, a promising poet. Both are addicted to drugs. When they meet, it is love at first sight. At first, both feel as though they had found paradise. But, as in every paradise, there is also original sin here, in the shape of heroin. Both believe thaat happiness has no limits. With the passage of time, they realize they do not have the means to survive. Candy must resort to prostitution and Dan does nothing to stop her. They decide to strengthen the bonds that bind them by getting married. Poet Dan is played by Heath Ledger in his first performance since Brokeback Mountain and Casanova, this one never released in Brazilian cinemas.
