Ben is different. His life is a universe to itself, where he plays avidly his favorite on-line computer game, ArchLord, trying hard to train himself for the real world he lives in. The harsh world of a technical school is for him a daily kind of hell, so Ben devises a plan, an arrangement that can be summed up in one word: murder! Then Scarlite comes into his life, the girl he has met in his on-line game. That wasn’t part of the plan. Ben X also includes an example of technological innovation. It is the very first film in which a director works in cyberspace with virtual actors. In the role-playing computer game ArchLord by Codemasters, a number of scenes were shot on-line with several gamers playing entire scenes with virtual characters on the basis of directives given by the filmmaker. These scenes were subsequently integrated into the live-action film images.
