Marcos, a general?s private chauffeur and his wife, kidnap a child for ransom. However, the child accidentally dies. On a completely different social level, Ana, the general?s young daughter, engages in prostitution for amusement. With a heavy conscience, Marcos eventually confesses his crime to Ana with whom he has an affair, also to end in violence. The traditional pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadelupe, that draws thousands of faithful, becomes an opportunity for escape and for atonement.
