A film about one of the great names of Brazilian literature: Ignácio de Loyola Brandão — writer, journalist, cinephile, keen observer of reality, dreamer. Subverting roles, this documentary turns the storyteller into the main character of a narrative that interweaves the many men that exist in one. More than a biography, however, “No Life Without Words” is a reverie through Loyola’s works, memories, and desires. It is also an encounter. A play of memories and inventions in which a son, director André Brandão, looks closely at his father in an attempt to decipher him, or perhaps to lose himself even more deeply in his narrative labyrinths.
