Johannes is a young scientist under contract as assistant for the research department in a university. There, he meets Farid, a researcher working on the same project as he is, but from a different angle. They become fast friends, in spite of professional rivalry. Their friendship, however, is undermined when they both fall for the same girl. To make matters worse, a bomb goes off in the town and Farid is had as suspect by the fact he is a Moslem. Johannes is then led to spy on his colleague and the relationship between them comes adrift once and for all. A professional, amorous, and political dispute with a tendency to develop into treachery and disloyalty.
