The film depicts a journey of resistance and courage set in vibrant Salvador in 1835. During their wedding, two young Muslims are torn from their homeland in Africa and sold into slavery in Brazil. Separated by cruel fate, they both struggle to survive and reunite, while becoming entangled in the largest slave rebellion in Brazilian history: the Malê Revolt.
