While living abroad with his second wife, Gerrie returns to Rotterdam for his annual health check-up. There, he meets his son, Dick, who longs for quality time between them, which his father stubbornly avoids. During the brief time they spend together, between Gerrie and Dick emerges, in capricious but combustible communication, tacit efforts at affection. Faced with such dynamics, we glimpse the intricate bond between two socially inept men, constantly “fishing” for each other’s love.
