Atta and Masi, two children who are cousins, play in an old house and the alleyways of Tehran. They live unaware of the events of 1953, the year of the American coup in Iran. In their grandmother’s house, the children try to cope with the absence of their parents: Atta’s father is in prison, and Masi’s father has passed away. When their aunt accuses Davoud —Masi’s brother and Atta’s idol— of stealing her jewelry, the family’s life is turned upside down. Decades later, Atta returns to Iran and relives childhood memories filled with love, admiration, and betrayal.
