A doctor offers to carry out HIV prevention work in the largest prison in Latin America, Carandiru. There, he lives with the reality of inmates, which includes violence, overcrowded cells and precarious facilities. However, despite all the problems, the doctor soon encountered solidarity and organization at this place. These visits become the context for personal stories, in narratives set inside and outside the prison, and which culminate in the infamous Pavilion 9 massacre, which took place in October 1992. Based on the book “Estação Carandiru”, by Drauzio Varella.
