Before going to high school, five teenagers decide to go on an audacious trip: in a van, with a busted tail light, they plan on traveling 800 kilometers, to get to the Pacific coast. This improvised odyssey takes them through diverse American landscapes and to the encounter of different people. On the way, they realize that the contours of their lives are set by the trails they blaze themselves.
