On the coast of Hokkaido, Japan, Shoji owns a second-hand appliance store. When his Russian clients stop buying his products, he faces the imminence of bankruptcy. Shoji decides to die, so his can daughter will get, at least, the money from his life insurance. But, in order to get the benefit, Shoji can’t commit suicide. He asks for Saki, a woman who just arrived in town and is disappointed with her career and love life, to help him die. But things don’t go as planned.
