In Russia, after the end of World War II, many 16 to 18 year old girls were sent to the fields of northern country to clear mines left after the Nazi invasion. Marusya is a promising artist. Polina is a young widow learning to live without her beloved. But the destiny prepared for each girl her own waltz on the mine fields.
