
Born in Marburg, Germany, in 1969. He studied Fine Arts in France, and Philosophy and Visual Communication in Hamburg. He directed the feature films “Bungalow” (2002), “Windows on Monday” (2006), “Sleeping Sickness” (2011, 35th Mostra), winner of the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlin International Film Festival, and “In My Room” (2018), presented in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2019, he co-directed with Henner Winckler the feature “A Voluntary Year,” presented at the Locarno Film Festival.
