
Born in 1960 in Houston, USA. One of the most important directors in American independent cinema, Linklater began his career in the late 1980s. Among his most notable works are “Slacker” (1990), “Dazed and Confused” (1993), the trilogy composed of “Before Sunrise” (1995), winner of the best director award at the Berlin International Film Festival, “Before Sunset” (2004, 28th Mostra) and “Before Midnight” (2013), the latter two nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, as well as the rotoscoped features “Waking Life” (2001, 25th Mostra), “A Scanner Darkly” (2006, 30th Mostra) and “Apollo 101⁄2: A Space Age Childhood” (2022), and “Boyhood” (2014), a film shot over more than a decade, for which he once again received the Best Director Award at the Berlinale and was nominated for an Academy Award in the same category. He also directed “School of Rock” (2003), “Bernie” (2011), “Where’d You Go, Bernadette?” (2019) and “Hit Man” (2023). Linklater is also the founder of the Austin Film Society.
