Frenkel is a director, screenwriter, editor, and producer of numerous documentary feature films co-authored with Sofía Mora. Retrospective exhibitions of his work have been held at the Montevideo Cinematheque and at film festivals in Argentina, Peru and Chile. He directed films such as “Buscando a Reynolds” (2004), “Construcción de una Ciudad” (2007), which won an award at the BAFICI, “Amateur” (2011), “Los Ganadores” (2016), and “El Coso” (2022). In 2021, he received the Konex Award as one of the five outstanding documentary filmmakers of the decade.
