Artistic Director of the Young Vic theatre in London, she previously served as Artistic Director and CEO of Theatre Royal Stratford East, and was an Associate Director at the National Theatre from 2015 to 2018. Earlier in her career, she spent many years as an assistant to acclaimed theatre and film director Nicholas Hytner. Her stage work includes several acclaimed productions. In 2018, she completed her debut short film, “Bush”, and in 2020, directed “No Masks”, a television drama based on real stories of key workers and their fight against the coronavirus. “Brides” is her feature film debut.
