
A filmmaker born in 1960, she spent her childhood and youth in Hamburg, Curacao and Cologne. She lives in Berlin and works as a film director, screenwriter and lecturer. Parallel to her studies in film science, journalism and German language and literature, she made independent short films and documentaries that often told of life and survival in the city. She also worked as an assistant director for theatre and film and studied directing and screenwriting at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin. Her graduation film “Zoe” (1999) was presented in film festivals like Berlin and Moscow and received the German Film Director’s Award at the Munich Film Festival. Her second feature film, “Learning her Secrets” (2005), screened in Gothenburg and received the Special Jury Mention in Oldenburg.
