Born in Recife, Brazil, in 1965, he studied journalism at the Federal University of Pernambuco. He directed “Perfume Ball” (1996), with Paulo Caldas, one of the most important films made during the Brazilian Retomada. Ferreira also directed the films “Árido Movie” (2005), “Cartola” (2007, 30th Mostra), co-directed by Hilton Lacerda, “The Man who Bottled Clouds” (2008, 36th Mostra), “Blue Blood” (2014, 38th Mostra), “Acqua Movie” (2019, 43rd Mostra), “Cafi” (2021), “On Off” (2023, 47th Mostra), “The Last Rock Band” (2024, 48th Mostra) and “Soul’s Peake” (2024, 48th Mostra) — presented in international film festivals like Berlin, Venice, Toronto and IDFA.
