A director, writer, and producer based in Los Angeles. Laura has a BA in History from Reed College in Portland, and an MFA in Visual Studies from University of California San Diego. She is a film expert for the U.S. State Department’s American Film Showcase leading workshops in documentary storytelling worldwide, and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, where she serves on the Executive Committee of the Documentary Branch. She directed “Walk Run Cha-Cha” (2019), a film nominated for an Academy Award for Best Short Documentary. She also made films like “The Yes Men Are Revolting” (2014), presented at the Toronto Film Festival and the Berlinale International Film Festival, “The Light in Her Eyes” (2011), presented at IDFA, and “Inventing Tomorrow” (2018), presented at the Sundance Film Festival and winner of several awards including the Peabody Award.
