
Born in Palestine in 1972, Kamal Aljafari is a filmmaker and artist. His works include “Port of Memory” (2010), awarded at the Cinéma du Réel, “Recollection” (2015), presented at the Torino Film Festival, “Unusual Summer” (2020), screened at the Rotterdam International Film Festival, and “A Fidai Film” (2024), which received awards at the FIDMarseille and the Visions du Réel. In addition to being screened, awarded, and the subject of retrospectives at international festivals, his films have also been exhibited at museums worldwide and at the Bienal de São Paulo. Aljafari has taught at The New School in New York and at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB), and was a fellow at the Harvard’s Film Study Center and at Columbia University.
