
Born in Ohio, USA, in 1953. Jarmusch is a film director, writer, musician, producer, and artist. A prominent figure in independent cinema, he worked as Nicholas Ray`s assistant while writing the script for what would become his first feature, “Permanent Vacation” (1980, 40th Mostra). His films includes “Stranger Than Paradise” (1984, 8th and 40th Mostra), which won the Caméra d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Festival, “Down by Law” (1986, 11th Mostra), “Mystery Train” (1989, 13th Mostra), “Night on Earth” (1991), “Dead Man” (1995), “Ghost Dog” (1999), “Broken Flowers” (2005, 29th Mostra), which won the Grand Prize of the Jury at Cannes, “Only Lovers Left Alive” (2013), “Paterson” (2016, 40th Mostra), and “The Dead Don’t Die” (2019).
