Ira Sachs

Born in the USA, in 1965, he lives in New York. As director he made films such as “Forty Shades of Blue” (2005), winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, “Married Life” (2007), “Keep the Lights On” (2012), winner of the Teddy Award at the Berlin International Film Festival, “Love Is Strange” (2014), presented at San Sebastián, “Little Men” (2016), “Frankie” (2019), screened at the 43rd Mostra and at Cannes, and “Passages” (2023), also presented at the Berlinale. Sachs has been a frequent Advisor at the Sundance Directors and Screenwriters Labs since the early 2000s. He was also a 2013 Guggenheim Fellow, as well as an artist resident at MacDowell and Yaddo. His work is in the permanent collections at MoMA and the Whitney Museum of Art, both in New York, and in 2009, Sachs founded Queer|Art, a non-profit arts organization that provides mentorship and support for queer and trans artists across disciplines and generations.
